Local Law Enforcement
Roughly 50 vehicles have been marked with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Vehicles, exterior walls and mailboxes were marked, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they stated in a statement.
Law enforcement report they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday, when a man discovered that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored substance.
The fluid had been placed in the form of a banned symbol, they added.
Officers then discovered multiple other marked vehicles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
These symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation banning the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.
Police state early analysis suggest the liquid was probably human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no indication as to its origin; officials are presently not aware of any physical harm in relation with the incident," they commented.
Municipal representatives stated they were attempting "to solve the incident" and have appealed to the community for information.
A high-ranking political figure commented the attack left him without words and needed to be solved rapidly.
"This incident hits the center of Hanau and revives the trauma of the right-wing attack half a decade ago," he posted on online, mentioning the killing of nine individuals by a gunman targeting people of foreign heritage in five years prior.
